"I love watching P.Ramlee films. My personal favorite is Anakku Sazali back in '56. The chemistry between P.Ramlee and Zaiton (Mahani) in this film is legendary, very hardly replicated (especially in today's hollywood corrupted Malaysian film industry). In days where i stop pretending to be a film critic, I enjoy searching for abandonned bikes around campus, and then fixing them. Haha

"I can say that I am a responsible and a hard-working person. I like to communicate with people and get to know new interesting individuals. I enjoy my time at Drexel. It is really nice to study there. The atmosphere cannot but make me want to go there every time. (Promoting Drexel a little bit haha) I like to receive and deal with challenging tasks. I am a very enthusiastic student and I think this is a strong point of mine. As soon as I meet new people who are happy to meet me, I feel extremely comfortable with them. “I have a thing for quotes and poetry. From Maya Angelou to E. E. Cummings. I just think they’re amazing because poetry relies on the writer's feelings, history and perceptions. It draws on the senses and the senses give deep access to memories and feelings and the most primitive peoples have used it, and the most civilized have cultivated it. I also love travelling, getting to know places I had only seen in books or movies, trying new foods and learning new customs. Especially the part of meeting new people and learning how our cultures are alike and, even better, how they are different. I love the light in people’s eyes when they learn that you have visited their country, and seeing the happiness when I use words and phrases that I picked up while I was there. Mark Twain, as he usually did, said it perfectly: “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” Also a major fan of the Beatles, making lame jokes and I can quote TopGun better than anyone you know.”

There is no denying that I am a third culture kid, but having returned to Malaysia before studying at NYU to complete my high school studies, I have gained a newfound appreciation and love for Malaysian culture and politics and a new perspective on my identity as both a global and Malaysian citizen. From there, it only deepens, as studying abroad brings homesickness!
